Creative Movement Exercise Class–New

Tuesdays, April 23rd to May 28th

10:00 am – 11:30 am

Participants follow gentle exercises done to music, each performing within their own abilities. Exercises are done in chairs but you may stand too. Exercises are directed to the needs of a person with Parkinson’s disease or with mobility concerns and include: postural awareness, balance, flexibility and ease of motion. Repetition is important for improvement and building confidence.

It is a gentle program beneficial to anyone interested in feeling better.  Membership not required.

$36.00 for 6 weeks. Please register and pay in the front office.

Fit and Fun Exercise Classes

Wednesdays, 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm

The next set of classes begin again on Wednesday,March 27th.

March 27th to May 8th (no class on April 10th)

Low Impact Aerobics; Strengthen and Lengthen; Improve Joint Mobility and your Balance while moving to fun music!  This class also incorporates bands and balls for strengthening of muscles and helping to increase mobility in arms, lets and trunk.

The class is done sitting in a chair but you can stand to do all of the strengthening and mobility exercises. The instructor will help you to modify the movements if you have any mobility issues.  It is a good workout for everyone!

Fee: $36 for 6 classes.  Membership not required.  Please register and pay with the front office.

Zumba® Gold

ZUMBA GOLD

Tuesdays, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm

Starts: April.

Zumba® Gold is a Latin inspired, low impact, cardio dance class for older adults.

Pre-register for this class by phone, in person or online with the City of Toronto, Parks & Recreation Department.

Program fee: $44.00 for 9 weeks.

Table Tennis

Wednesdays & Fridays, 9:30 am – 11:30 am

Join a regular group of players for some excellent exercise and wonderful camaraderie.  Membership required.
$1.00 per person, per day

Chair Yoga – Kundalini

CHAIR YOGA (KUNDALINI YOGA)

Tuesdays, 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Starts again on: March 12th. Runs March 12th to April 16th

Chair yoga exercises can focus on the heart and circulation, general mobility, coordination, enhancing lymphatic flow, mental focus, short term memory, immune function, balancing and more. You will also learn beneficial breathing techniques that are a key aspect of reaching optimum health. Enjoy all the benefits of chair Yoga in a safe and encouraging atmosphere while having so much fun! Chair yoga is one of the gentlest forms of yoga, mostly practiced either sitting in a chair, or standing, using the chair for support.  We practice many different yoga postures, as well as simple breathing techniques that aid in relaxation.   Each session concludes with gentle relaxation to reduce stress.  Chair yoga may be the perfect choice for you if you:

  • Have difficulty getting down to or up from the floor
  • Suffer from high blood pressure, anxiety, arthritis, fatigue, osteoporosis, and chronic pain
  • Want to increase your flexibility, mobility, and move with greater ease and comfort

Wear loose comfortable clothing.
