NIA (Neuromuscular Integrative Action) is a design system that promotes sustainability in the body– a fitness class that combines movements and sensibilities from the dance arts, martial arts, and healing arts. It is welcoming of all body types, skill levels, and ages. The movements are taught on the spot and dancers are invited to move at their pace and level.

The first principle of Nia is:  The Joy of Movement!  Listen to music, get moving, and have fun!   (No mat or shoes required).

Music Wellness Class

10:00 AM TO 11:00 AM

Music is a vital part of our lives. This session introduces members to invoking memories through music, artist biographies & singing. It helps to stimulate the mind, body and spirit.
This seminar will include well known “camp fire songs” so please join us for some singing and learn the history of each song. It is a fun and informative hour!

Drawing Classes: June 13th

Wednesdays, June 13, 2018
1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Drawing classes will be held monthly and will cover basic drawing issues. The instructor will have a theme and focus for each class. Drawing is an accumulation of skills and knowledge. This is a beginner to advanced class. Each level will be challenged.

Students are encouraged to bring their own supplies & try mediums.
• Drawing pencils – bring 3 pencils of different hardness 2H HB 2B.
• Suggested: Staedtler Mars Lumograph pencils 100, Drafting Set from 4H to 6B
• Kneaded eraser
• Sketch pad – suggested: 98lb paper Cason Mixed Media 9x12in.
• Photo images that interest you – instructor will supply images as well.
• Ruler and/or a 2ft string
• Markers and other drawing materials are accepted and encouraged if student wants

Cost: $7.50 per class

Hardy Rawls (the much-loved Maytag Repairman) stars as Chuck, the owner of a struggling diner who must grapple with the possibility of selling his beloved haunt. As he relives the moments and music of a simpler time –  from the rockin’ sounds of Bill Haley to the beautiful ballads of Brenda Lee – the voice of an entire generation is revealed. A hit parade of timeless tunes from the ’50s and’60s are on the menu: Rock Around the Clock, You Send Me, Crying, It’s My Party, In The Still of the Night, and many more! Day Trip July 9th: The ‘Millionaire’s Row’ Cruise Special

Muskoka Steamships present: The Spectacular ‘Millionaire’s Row’ Cruise Special, Cruising from Gravenhurst to Port Carling

 Travel to Gravenhurst and board the Wenonah II Steamship for a 2 ½ hour cruise (11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.), sailing the length of lovely Lake Muskoka from Gravenhurst to Port Carling. You’ll enjoy a Full Course Roast Turkey Luncheon in the ship’s Dining Room as you view rocky islands, tree-covered shorelines, and “Millionaire’s Row”, showcasing beautiful summer homes of the rich and famous! Upon disembarking at Port Carling, there’s time for you to look around this charming lakeside town before re-boarding your waiting coach at 3:00 p.m. Departing Port Carling, we’ll follow picturesque routes via the towns of Torrance, Bala and Port Severn to the ‘Big Chute’ to have a look at this marvellous Marine Railway, a true engineering feat. From the Big Chute we’ll motor on to Orillia for some shopping time and a light Supper (Soup or Salad with a Sandwich or Meat Pie, plus Beverage and Dessert) at the Mariposa Market Bakery (5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.) Following this we’re homeward bound!

Day Trip June 26th: Luncheon Cruise + Casino Rama

Take a Sightseeing Cruise aboard the 300-passenger ‘Miss Midland’ and experience the sparkling waters, the windswept pines, and rocky grandeur of Muskoka-Georgian Bay’s 30,000 Islands, one of the loveliest cruising areas in the Northern Hemisphere. The cruise (11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.) departs from the town dock in Midland, and while enjoying the cruise you’ll also enjoy a Buffet Luncheon served on board (note: Bar Service is available.) The boat has both an open upper deck, and a closed lower deck. Following our cruise we’ll depart for Casino Rama, just north of Orillia, to spend a little time here (2:45 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.) Afterwards – with all of your winnings tucked safely away! – it’s time to head for home.

Winner of six Academy Awards in 1951 and hailed as one of the most imaginative musicals Hollywood has ever produced!  Starring Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron, Oscar Levant, Nina Foch and Georges Guetary.

Gene Kelly plays Jerry Mulligan, an ex-GI who loves Paris and stays on to earn his living as a struggling sidewalk artist along with his best friend Adam Cook (Oscar Levant), a struggling concert pianist.  His paintings are “discovered” by an influential heiress Milo Roberts (Nina Foch), who is interested in more than his art. However, Jerry falls in love with a lovely French girl Lise Bouvier (Leslie Caron), who is already engaged to cabaret singer Henri Baurel (Georges Guetary). Romantic mishaps, dazzling dances and a stunning cabaret finale with Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron at their ultra-best, are spun around the fabulous score of this colorful musical by George and Ira Gershwin featuring such numbers as S’Wonderful, Embraceable You, Our Love is Here to Stay, I Got Rhythm, and many more.

This 1974 original production which garnered an Oscar for Ingrid Bergman, is elegant, escapist entertainment at its stylishly European best.  An Agatha Christie whodunnit which boasts an incredible international cast as some of the most wonderfully eccentric characters ever created.

Starring Albert Finney as Hercule Poirot, with Lauren Bacall, Martin Balsam, Ingrid Bergman, Jacqueline Bisset, Jean-Pierre Cassel, Sean Connery, John Gielgud, Wendy Hiller, Anthony Perkins, Vanessa Redgrave, Rachel Roberts, Richard Widmark and Michael York.

Having concluded a case, the dapper detective Hercule Poirot (Albert Finney) settles into what he expects to be a relaxing journey home aboard the luxurious “Orient Express”.  But when an American millionaire is mysteriously murdered en route, Poirot takes up the case, and soon discovers that everyone on board the famous train’s Calais coach is a suspect. Packed with sparkling dialogue and visually rich in texture, this incomparable thriller received six Academy Award nominations.
