Movie: Bohemian Rhapsody

THURSDAY, MAY 30TH

1:00 pm to 3:10 pm

Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound. They reach unparalleled success, but in an unexpected turn Freddie, surrounded by darker influences, shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. Having suffered greatly without the collaboration of Queen, Freddie manages to reunite with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid. While bravely facing a recent AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day!

This movie is provided by and recommended by one of our longtime movie members who says: “you don’t have to know the music of Queen to appreciate this interesting and well-made movie.”

Nominated for 5 Academy Awards 2019.

$2.00 to attend.  Membership required.

Walk ‘n Roll-a-thon!

The ISC is holding a Walk ‘n Roll-a-thon as a Fundraiser for the Centre and to promote a healthy, active lifestyle!  The Centre offers several fantastic fitness programs and our members have found that they have increased flexibility and mobility since beginning these programs. Check out the programs listed under the Fitness category.

If you would like to be a walker, a roller (those with walkers) or take a stroll down Dundas Street, please register with the Centre.  Sponsorship/donation forms are available in the office.  Each donation of $10 will receive a tax deductible receipt because the Islington Seniors’ Centre is a registered charitable organization.

If you don’t walk to partake in the walk, you can always sponsor one of our members on the walk.
