Creative Movement Exercise Class–New

Tuesdays, April 23rd to May 28th

10:00 am – 11:30 am

Participants follow gentle exercises done to music, each performing within their own abilities. Exercises are done in chairs but you may stand too. Exercises are directed to the needs of a person with Parkinson’s disease or with mobility concerns and include: postural awareness, balance, flexibility and ease of motion. Repetition is important for improvement and building confidence.

It is a gentle program beneficial to anyone interested in feeling better.  Membership not required.

$36.00 for 6 weeks. Please register and pay in the front office.

Day Trip: Niagara: The Falls, Flowers & Butterflies (tickets are going quickly!)

Wednesday, JULY 3rd, 2019

Enjoy the Falls and some of its delightful attractions on this fun day away. We’ll start off with a look at the Falls, then it’s on to the Niagara Parks Floral Showhouse (11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) where, for over 60 years, visitors have come to discover paradise at this lush oasis, just a short distance from the Falls. Collections of orchids, succulents and other tropical plants are on display throughout the year, along with floral shows that reflect the seasons. Flying throughout the greenery are colourful tropical birds!

For lunch today we’ll take you to the top of the Skylon Tower (1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.) where you can enjoy a Buffet in the Summit Dining Room while gazing over the Falls and surroundings.  After lunch we’ll follow the Niagara Parkway a short distance for a visit to the Butterfly Conservatory (3:00 – 4:00 p.m.), a magical attraction featuring over 2000 colourful tropical butterflies floating freely among lush exotic blossoms and greenery. Leaving the Conservatory, we’ll follow the lovely Parkway up to charming Niagara-on-the-Lake for a quick look, then we’re homeward bound.

Book Club

Join a group of avid readers to discuss the Book of the Month. Discussion is moderated by a librarian from the Toronto Public Library.

Fit and Fun Exercise Classes

Wednesdays, 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm

The next set of classes begin again on Wednesday,March 27th.

March 27th to May 8th (no class on April 10th)

Low Impact Aerobics; Strengthen and Lengthen; Improve Joint Mobility and your Balance while moving to fun music!  This class also incorporates bands and balls for strengthening of muscles and helping to increase mobility in arms, lets and trunk.

The class is done sitting in a chair but you can stand to do all of the strengthening and mobility exercises. The instructor will help you to modify the movements if you have any mobility issues.  It is a good workout for everyone!

Fee: $36 for 6 classes.  Membership not required.  Please register and pay with the front office.

Lunch in our Garden Cafe

The Centre operates a lunchroom called “The Garden Cafe” for members, volunteers and staff. Light lunches are served Wednesdays from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. We serve homemade sandwiches, made fresh, for $2.00/2.50; or soup and a roll for $3.00; tea or coffee is 50 cents. You can also purchase a delicious muffin or cookies for 50 cents. Members can order a lunch until 12:15 pm. Please join for a bite to eat and a chance to meet new people! All monies go back to buying the supplies for the Cafe.
